How it all began and where I’m heading

Solas & Dorcha and me.

Hello and thank you for visiting.  My name is Kirsty and I had the vision to bring together colour, design and wellbeing together in 2022 after a three year journey which led me to the birth of Solas & Dorcha.

 

Solas and Dorcha is Scots Gaelic for light and dark.  Every colour has a light and a dark side and every human also has a light and dark side and this is something that fascinates me. We are light beings and Shadows anchor us to earth.  

Every form of life responds to lights and dark and humans live in harmony with nature.  The more artificial light we have the more out of rhythm we become.  Light is pure healing energy.

 

I live in East Lothian with my husband and two daughters and I have an extensive background in Design and my studies have given me a list of qualifications.

  • NC in Art and Design.  

  • BSc (Hons) in Textiles and Fashion Design Management from Heriot Watt University.

  • Diploma in Colour Therapeutics for Interior Design from the holistic design institute.

  • Diploma in Holistic colour and style Consultant (for which I gained a distinction) from the Iris international school of colour therapy.

  • Reiki 1 and 2 qualified therapist with Jen Gold.

  • Reiki Advanced Practitioner qualified therapist with Jen Gold

I have spent 25 years in the design and fashion industry working as a footwear and fashion designer, product developer and brand manager as well as having my own bridal boutique for a number of years.  I have a deep passion for great design and my attention to detail of a product can drive others mad.  A well made product inspires me.  I have spent many hours colour matching for production within the industry.   

I have passionately helped friends and family over the years put together colours for their homes and I felt drawn to develop this skill base further.

 

I want to help people aesthetically as well as holisitically within their homes, clothing and personal life through colour and design.  Prescribed colour for a better way of life!
